IonicWhite
Teeth Whitening System
Ionic White is a home whitening system which uses a blue wavelength
light to activate a whitening gel. The gel contains silver ions which activate
to accelerate whitening when exposed to the light. It claims to work in
just 21 minutes. We saw only slight results when we tried this product
- we suspect that the claims that it doesn't cause sensitive
teeth are
true because of a low amount of peroxide -
the active ingredient in all tooth whitening products.

Perfectly White
PerfectlyWhite was
the first home light-activated tooth whitening system. We keep
hearing good things about the effectiveness of this product!
The light is a true, blue-wavelength
Plasma light like the one used for professional treatments, It is not
a white light with a blue filter as is sold in some kits. It is safe and
emits no harmful UVA or UVB.
This is combined with a potent whitening formula that
really works! Whitening trays custom-fit to your teeth to reduce
mess.

Klear Action® by Thane ® Whitening Lite
Klear Action is another light-activated home tooth whitening system. Pre-rinse
with the special pre-conditioning rinse, then apply the paint-on gel
and expose teeth to the blue light. According to their website, the process
has been cleared by the FDA. It claims to work in under an hour.

WhiteLight ™ Tooth Whitening System
Recently we tried this product, which claims to be another
light-activated home whitener. Its much less expensive
than IonicWhite, Perfectly White or Klear Action. However the trays are "one
size fits all",
leading to unpleasant gel leakage and foaming. Like whitening strips and
paint-ons, the active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide (they don't tell
you the percentage). We didn't think the results were at all impressive,
but people seemed to either love
or hate the WhiteLight
system.

Plus White 5 Minute Speed Whitening
Plus White, makers of Plus White Gel and whitening toothpastes, just
introduced their 5 minute Speed Whitening Kit including a pre-rinse,
hydrogen-peroxide gel and a whitening tray. We
found it unpleasant to use - the "one size fits all" tray was uncomfortable
and the poor fit exposed us to a hefty dose of bad-tasting gel! In
its favor, Plus White is inexpensive - the kit retails for around $10
or less.
